The booth and staff are all set to welcome the institutional delegation leaving Bologna tomorrow
PromoBologna, the local development agency and case coordinator for Bologna’s participation in Expo Shanghai in partnership with BolognaFiere (Shanghai), has guaranteed the opening of Bologna’s booth for 129 days for thirteen hours a day. This will give visitors, mostly the Chinese, the opportunity to get a sense of the Bologna area: the porticoes, city streets, cultural institutions, businesses, top quality brands and infrastructure.
In the 4 months since its inauguration, over one million visitors are estimated to have visited the booth, while 250,000 downloads have been made from the three multimedia totems set up in the exhibition space (culture and University, economic and production system, tourism).
Everything is in place to welcome the institutional delegation leaving Bologna tomorrow 7thSeptember (arriving in China on 8thSeptember). For five days, the group will take part in events, meetings, conferences and exhibitions organized at Bologna’s booth (in the UBPA area), as well as at the Emilia Romagna Region’s booth, at Tongji University and as part of the ShContemporary Art event.
Bologna’s Special Day - celebrating the end of the week-long mission - is set for Sunday 12thSeptember: a whole day dedicated to “knowledge and know-how”, to introduce the crowds of Chinese visitors to the Bolognese specialities that bring the city international recognition as a model of excellence. The celebrations will be rounded off in the late afternoon by a concert in the large plaza in the Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA), where Oscar-winning pianist Luis Bacalov (Il Postino, 1994) and master flutist Massimo Mercellli will perform music composed specifically for the occasion by Oscar-winning Ennio Morricone.
Three Ducati motorbikes and three Lamborghini cars - the main sponsors of Bologna’s participation in Expo and examples of Bolognese production excellence - will be on display during the day near Pavilion B3-2 (where Bologna’s booth is located) and the UBPA plaza.
Another diary date for Bologna’s booth is the inauguration of the video installation Lucerna Iuris, created by the Faculty of Law at the University of Bologna and funded by the Fondazione Carisbo, which will take place on 10thSeptember from 2.30 pm onwards (Shanghai time)
The institutional delegation will focus particular attention on economic issues with a view to enhancing the local production system, developing new partnerships and opening up new markets.
PromoBologna, case coordinator for Bologna’s participation in the Expo Shanghai on behalf of the Municipal Council (1stMay - 31stOctober), is also responsible for organizing the Special Day.
The Special Day is also supported by Bologna’s Chamber of Commerce, thanks to funding provided for the “Knowledge and Know-how of Bologna” project developed by Ascom, CIA, CNA Bologna, Legacoop Bologna and Unindustria Bologna. The concert by Luis Bacalov and Massimo Mercelli is sponsored by Federcultura-Confcooperative Emilia-Romagna in partnership with Emilia-Romagna Festival.
