The aim is to make the most of Italy’s presence at the World Expo
An agreement has been signed between the Municipalities of Bologna and Venice and the Commission of Italy World Expo 2010 Shanghai in light of the fact that the two cities will be taking part in the Urban Best Practices Area at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China. The theme of Expo 2010, to be held in Shanghai from May 1 to October 31 2010, is “Better City, Better Life”. The 200 exhibiting countries and International organizations will take inspiration from this theme in designing their booths.
The Expo organisers formally invited Bologna and Venice totake part in this particular section, in the respective categories: “Livable Cities” and “Protection & Utilization of Historical Heritages”. This represents a huge marketing opportunity for the territories of the two cities, which are both currently developing their own communication strategies. It also entails a considerable commitment, which they intend to fulfill by creating synergies and working in harmony with projects promoted and developed by the Government Commission. This will optimise and enhance Italy System’sparticipation in Shanghai. The agreement was signed in Venice, by the Mayor Massimo Cacciari, the Mayor of Bologna Sergio Cofferati, represented by Benedetto Zacchiroli, International Relations Officer for Bologna Municipal Council, and Beniamino Quinteri, the Commissioner General of Italy for Shanghai World Expo 2010.
